The Canadian Labour Congress has produced a booklet 'Municipalities Matter! Labour's Plan to Build Vibrant and Sustainable Communities Across Canada'. Labour is concretely proposing 5 issues, that if address, will take us down the path of building vibrant and sustainable communities: Public Infrastructure, 'Creating Jobs By Building Communities We Need For The Future'; Procurement, A 'Made In Canada Purchasing Policy'; Municipal Revenues, 'Building a Sustainable Fiscal Base for our Cities and Communities'; Fair Wages and Working Conditions; and Sustainability, our 'Green Agenda'.
Some of the questions below will help us to get a clearer picture of where you stand on these issues.

There is a lot of talk about pensions in the news these days. The Canadian Labour Congress is asking the federal government to double Canada Pension Plan benefits, financed in a gradual increase of contributions over 7 years, increase the Guaranteed Income Supplement of Old Age benefits by 15 percent; and a pension insurance plan. |
